Patchwork wallpaper collage of Patricia Lambertus
"The panorama wallpaper 'Nature's Lullaby' was imagined during the period of work on the castle Hundisburg (Scholarship of Ministry of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt). Based on the historical panorama wallpaper (wall-filling image wallpapers) from the 18th century and the associated landscape picture I associated contemporary among other urban landscape (graffiti, poster demolition, etc.) to a digital collage.
I use the collage principle for my artistic work. The choice of wallpaper as a material arose from the question of what 'space frames' surrounding us every day and in which we grow up. Wallpapers are strongly attached with our everyday life, and with a certain lifestyle that was prevalent at the relevant time. It is a lossy material with memories that much 'telling' both historical as well as socio-politically. With this material, I create space image, wall collages that show made visible overlays and open new fields of association.
The Förderkoje at art KARLSRUHE was papered inside with panoramic wallpaper 'Nature's Lalluaby' and equipped with demolition poster collages, wallpaper collage and two pieces of furniture. After the Mass, the wallpaper was removed and the exhibition 'sugar-free' at Kunstverein Gera reused (with 'real' demolition meshing). "[Patricia Lambertus]
